This was an amazing show, I recommend everyone to go and see this. You never quite know what is going to happen next as you become part of the performance within the bowels of this machine and taken into another reality. Amazing!!

Dead fish

One of my goldfish died :( I put him in a glass and started photographing him. I liked the way his face reflected in the side of the glass and distorted around the edges. He is starring back at his dead self from another place.....

Starting to get into the flow of producing art once more. I love over complicated psychedelic patterns at the moment incorporating nature with everyday objects.

Feeling very positive today new free day any thing can happen in a day :) good things will come! I have the vision now lets make it happen! for so long I have had the problem many artists have which I call butterfly brain! One idea will come to me then straight after something completely different, then loads more ideas all pretty strong but then its hard to choose which one to pursue! and which to leave behind! as time feels limited and you can only do one at a time! We are pigeon holed a lot in the UK creative people are multidisciplinary! Although its good to specialize and become an expert in a few things! I find it hard because I like all the different areas of art and design! I want to study photography and print! but also I am strong in sculpture and drawing! Now that I am focussed on my creative path I will not go back to the norm of admin in the office! Its soul destroying!

London is so inspiring there is so much going on here! I am going to Shunt money on Friday I can't wait and Frui photography social evening next Thursday :)

I am getting moving on my pieces now

I cant believe it is 4 pm already and I haven't managed to get any of my piece done yet! I will have to get started this evening time is going too fast! I am 26 already and the clock seems to be accelerating! When things are so familiar time goes fast! I wish I could slow it down! I have to learn to become disciplined or my whole life will pass by and I will forget to live it! England is such a comfortable and easy country to live in so convenient and simple compared to the east! I find it to be too easy and stale, we lack community and only care about materialism! Media bombards us and its very hard to concentrate! People become depressed here because of meaningless materialism and through pure boredom I need to find a way of living which is more real! Expressing my creativity and through helping people.

Another day sales past and I feel as though I have achieved very little! We were out in Dalston last night checked out some new bars I like the red lion down the side of Hoxton Square, Traffik and The Hobby Horse is quite chilled out with an alternative non pretentious crowd.

At the moment I am spending half my time in the west and half in the east soaking up the best of both worlds! I am based just outside of London but over the past year I have been back and forth between London and Abu Dhabi and Dubai, now in 2010 I am relocating to Doha in Qatar over the sea from Abu Dhabi 30 minute flight away, another desert where I will be living with my boyfriend Edwin :) Doha is apparently stricter then the UAE and right next to Saudi Arabia. I am sure it will be another eye opening experience which will change the way I look at the west forever.

My plan for the week is to produce as much art as possible and get things moving faster. Time is ticking by!

Another day time seems to be moving very fast right now! At the moment I am working on various print pieces of abstract trees containing every day objects, the trees represent thoughts and the random chaos of everyday life. I have incorporated recognizable objects of animal's, bird's and butterfly's, natural objects such as shells, flowers and house hold objects such as a silver spoon and a pair of glasses. I love mixing the man made, natural and imaginary world together as one, over lapping boundaries.

Made a trip to the print shop where I made copies of the tree drawings which I will next experiment with by making a coloured version and a biro version and maybe cut one up and manipulate it.

I am also working on a piece which is a present to Ed taken from memories from the last year in the middle east Abu Dhabi and Dubai the new mosque, the desert, the arabic mosaics etc.

It can be pretty hard starting out as an artist even after completing a university degree. I wanted to start a blog about my journey as an artist and see where I end up because I have nothing to loose. The recession has made it increasing difficult for young people to make their way in the world of 'normal' work. Where as before I was thinking of working in a steady 9 to 5 job this no longer appears to be possible for me and deep down I never was much good at sitting at a chair in front of a screen in a box all day! ahhh! Admin to me = hell!!!

I found this website recently very useful information for artists starting up http://www.artquest.org.uk/ set up by the university of the arts london and the arts council pop up shops, getting funding etc....
